Village Roles

Bodyguard

May choose one player per turn in their role conversation to protect from slaughter kills. They may not choose to protect the same player consecutively and cannot protect themself. Successful blocks are not announced in the game thread.
First used: Newbieville (2011) called Herbalist

Hunter

May kill any player by naming them in their role conversation. This kill happens instantly and is typically limited to just once per game.
First used: The Villagers Revenge? (2011) but the kill was a retaliation shot a la Retribution Wolf

Insane Seer

Has the same ability as the Seer, except there will be a 1/3 chance each turn that the response they get will be incorrect. They will not be told of their insanity though, when they receive their role PM it will tell them they are the Seer.
First used: Virtual Insanity (2011)

Lovers

The pair share a forum and cannot live without each other. If one dies, the other also perishes.
First used: Virtual Insanity (2011)

Martyr

May choose to sacrifice their own life to resurrect a dead player. The sacrifice must take place within one hour of the player's death to take effect.

NRV

Stands for Non-Roled Villager, meaning they don't have any powers. The majority of players starting a game will be NRV and typically, Wolves will try to hide among these unless they feel particularly brave and claim a role.
First used: The Beginning (2011)

Priest

Receives the roles of the dead in their forum. May choose a player to train as an Apprentice, who will join them in their forum.
First used: The Beginning (2011)

First used: The Beginning (2011)

Vigilante

They are a law unto themselves. Kills in conjunction with the lynch and can choose to kill every even turn. If they hit a powered village role, they commit suicide.

First used: Triple Jeopardy (2011)

Traitor

Count as an Evil player in the event of an Evil victory. A victory for the Good team may still occur if the Traitor is alive; the Good team need only kill the wolves to win. First used: Newbieville (2011)

Engineer

A villager entrusted with the responsibility of looking after the water supply. The evils have one chance in the game to sabotage it. If he is dead when it is sabotaged, there will be nobody capable of fixing it, and a random villager will die of thirst 2 turns later.

If they run away they will still be able to post, but not vote, and they shall be immune from Lynch or Slaughter for two turns.
First used: Pure (2012)

Ghost

This role may supplement another, and any player except a Seer may be a Ghost. A Ghost has the ability to post in the game thread for one full turn after their death (ending on the next corresponding deadline approximately 24hrs later), but they will not be able to vote or use any abilities that they may have had whilst they were alive. If a Wolf is a ghost then they may also remain in communication with their fellow wolves for one full turn after their death.
First used: AlphaBites! (2011)

Governor

Has the ability once per game, to message the moderator during a day phase and request that the voting be overruled, giving a target player of their own instead who will be lynched upon the deadline, at which time the moderator will announce that the Governor, whose identity will remain a secret, has used their ability. Vote results will still be posted.
First used: AlphaBites! (2011)

Light Keeper

First used: Unknown (2012)

Lost Wolf

Doesn’t know the identity of the wolves. To become part of the pack, they must tell a wolf they are also a wolf. They do that by messaging the moderator once per day with the identity of the player they think is a wolf. If the player is a wolf, they are told they are getting ‘Good Vibrations’. If they choose that player again and that player survives the further 24 hours, they become part of the pack. 10% chance a villager gives off Good Vibrations and if they are picked again, the villager will be told who the Lost Wolf is. Can be killed by the wolves and comes up as a Wolf to the Seer.
First used: No Divine Comedy (2012)

Lyncher

They are given one or more players at random and should all those on the list be lynched, they will score a 'Lynchers Victory' and get 10 points for the League Table. This role was made defunct as it goes against the spirit of the game.

First used: Unknown (2012)

Mayor

Each turn they have two votes to lynch someone which can both be used on the same person, or split on different players. This role is elected by the village so be careful about who you pick as they could be evil. This role was later changed to be a starting role but the Mayor only had the ability to pardon one person from being lynched.
